I’m a scholarly journal Managing Editor by trade, but animals are my first love, especially horses. I have been captivated by Thoroughbred racehorses since I was a child. I bought my first off-the-track Thoroughbred, Steele, when I was 15. He died a year and 3 months later from complications from colic. I got my next Thoroughbred, Indy (who was not off the track), when I was a senior in high school. I owned him for 19 years. He died the week before Thanksgiving 2010 at the age of 29 from complications from colic. After his death, I knew I wanted another horse, but I wasn’t planning to adopt another off-the-track Thoroughbred until I saw a picture of Vindy and fell instantly in love. This page is a chronicle of our adventure together. In addition to riding horses, I spend my time hanging out with my husband and our other pets, fostering rescue rats, reading books, and taking photographs.
